Welcome to Atha Yoga ![]() "Atha", like "A" at the beginning of just about
all alphabets (Greek, Alpha; the Middle Eastern (Alef) , the Hebrew
(Aleph) and many others) opens communication, powerful, straight and
with commitment. "Atha" is often translated as "Now", it is however much more than a frequently used opening word for many Indian Scriptures. The word also indicates, that prior to the topic under discussion, exchange of knowledge about it has been going on already. Nevertheless, it is an auspicious opening. It is said that at the very first instance of creation - the creator (Brahma) said: "Atha Ohm". Until then the creating word and with it the vibrations that make up the whole universe, was within Brahma, in his throat and it was closed! "Yoga" is an equally ancient word, that is first found in the Vedas. With that origin, it is embedded in ancient holistic thinking. Yoga is frequently translated as "union", but if the entire universe is unfolded from ONE indescribable source (call it what you may) then there is nothing to unite. It is all about returning to a state where we exist fully in the awareness of that Unity. Communication about this Unity is what this site is about, be it through Yoga philosophy in its widest sense, Vedanta or other related wisdom teachings. This is an excerpt taken from Swami Nityamuktananda's book, "Seeing Yoga".
